About Us

In order to take up organic certification in the state of Odisha, Odisha State Organic Certification Agency(OSOCA) came into existence as per Govt. Resolution No. 18851/Ag. dated 01.06.2005 followed by No. 17433/Ag. dated 30.05.2008.

Subsequently, it was registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 with registration number 22904/ 114 of 2008-09 with its headquarters at 326, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar.

OSOCA has been duly accredited as a Inspection & Certification Agency under NPOP (National Programme for Organic Production) by National Accreditation Body (NAB) w.e.f. 01.06.2012 vide APEDA (Agricultural & Processed Food Products allotted with the Accreditation No. NPOP/NAB/0025.

Policy

OSOCA proposes to provide an institutional mechanism for organic inspection and certification in the State of Orissa in particular and outside areas in general to ensure better quality organic products to the through a reliable certification programme formulated by an efficient and sustainable organizational set up that provides for consistent degree of non-discrimination, fairness, and transparency with commitment to obtain and maintain accreditation as per NPOP guidelines.

Scope & Objectives

OSOCA proposes to provide an institutional mechanism for Organic Inspection and Certification in the State of Odisha in particular and outside areas in general to ensure better quality organic products to the consumers. The aim of OSOCA, inter alia, include the following:

  • To establish a Globally Competitive Certification Programme.
  • To develop a Credible Certification System through Qualified and well trained personnel.
  • Commitment to obtain and maintain accreditation.
  • To provide Organic Certification to the operators at reasonable cost.
  • To make available quality products in the domestic and international market through Organic Inspection and Certification.
  • To support Training Capacity Building events for the personnel in the field of Organic Farming and Certification.

Responsibility

OSOCA has been accredited to work as Inspection and Certification Agency for Third Party Certification (NPOP) since 01.06.2012 for crop production, wild harvest, processing and trading certification by APEDA, Ministry of Commerce, GOI.

Further, OSOCA has been assigned to work as an empanelled Regional Council for PGS- India System of Certification by NCONF, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GoI with PAN India operation in the year 2021.
